A frequently-asked query:
Hi! I bought a domain name for my small business the other day and am ready to begin building my website. However, I’m a little stuck in finding a good, reputable web host that is free and will allow me to use the already purchased domain name. Storage and size are not an issue – most of my images will be hosted off-site anyways. Any suggestions, Yahoo community?
Answer: You are not alone. Free hosting will most probably never be the best hosting for most people. Web hosting is the heart of your online presence and can mean the life or death to your business.

Who Should Not Try Hostgator
To be honest, no web hosting service is perfect. Drawback of Hostgator includes:
- No free domain name – but you can easily get a domain name from the best domain registrar such as Godaddy or Namecheap for $10 or less. Would you agree that a website is not complete without a domain name?
- You need to pay full price after your first invoice – well, they need to make money too and all the support and great service do come with a cost

You can use byetnet hosting services or jumpline hosting. I found Jumpline to be excellent 🙂

There are tons of free hosting providers, and every one I’ve seen will take a domain name that you already own.
The problem is reliability. A free host can be very cavalier about staying up. As soon as you pay a few dollars a month to someone, service becomes far more reliable. I went through a couple free hosts, fh50.com, and heliohost.net . They either went bankrupt, or otherwise disappeared. My advice, if you must go with a free host, is to go with one that is hard to sign up for, and offers just barely what you need. One company promised a huge amount of storage, like 1 GB, and 5 GB of bandwidth per month. No mandatory ads, and you could run a business from it. Sure thing, it didn’t last. I finally ended up last year at hostcell.net, which gives only modest storage and bandwidth, and you have to write an essay to get in (discourages fly-by-night bots). It’s been up for about a year now.

It’s a matter of common sense that paid services have no comparison with free services. Free hosting is not a total rejection. It is good for immature, non-professional and websites with less bandwidth requirements. When it comes to business or high profile hosting, free hosting losses its scope. Such entities require a truly top quality, reliable and supportive system of hosting without any pitfalls.

depends your actual website requirement, free hosting might not work properly. I suggest go with a paid hosting since there’re really so many good and cheap providers.

If you need a good free online website builder and free hosting then try http://Yola.com for your domain name hosting. The only drawback maybe is the Yola free hosting link-back message displayed in the footer of every page of your website but otherwise there are no ads of any kind.
For a completely clean free web hosting service without ads, banners or link-backs at all try http://TheFreeHosting.com but you’re going to have to build your own site or bring it with you from one of the online website builder services. You can try out the demo web hosting control panel to see if this web hosting service suits you.
Good luck!
