A frequently-asked query:
I am looking to set up a website. I have some experience but am looking for something not to complicated as I only have so much time, hence I’m looking for something with a web site builder with a large variety of templates. I want to have a blog, web forums, a section for pics and whatever else comes to mind that you may think of that I haven’t mentioned.
If your happy with your host, can you also post the url for your site so I can check it out? Thanks for the help.
Answer: You are not alone. Free hosting will most probably never be the best hosting for you. Web hosting is the heart of your business and can mean the life or death to your business.
To answer your query, here are 7 qualities to look for in a good web hosting. An excellent hosting:
- has at least 30 days money back guarantee,
- gives unlimited diskspace,
- offers no limit on bandwidth,
- gives unlimited add-on domains,
- has friendly Site Builder,
- has Fantastico and QuickInstall to quickly install apps like WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, OSCommerce, ZenCart and more
- can be easily upgraded to VPS or one of their best dedicated server plans if and when your business require.
To answer your question, 92% of Webmasters recommended to try Hostgator. If you need an “unlimited” hosting plan, experts usually highly recommend going with Hostgator because they are the best cheap cpanel hosting around.
What if you find out that Hostgator sucks after you signed up with them? HG has 45 days, longer-than-industry-average money back guarantee so you have ample time to test them out. They are rated A+ by Better Business Bureau which shows their commitment to customer satisfaction. You also do not have to pay for the first month. Who Should Not Try Hostgator
To be honest, no web hosting service is perfect. Drawback of Hostgator includes:
- No free domain name – but you can easily get a domain name from the best domain registrar such as Godaddy or Namecheap for $10 or less. Would you agree that a website is not complete without a domain name?
- You need to pay full price after your first invoice – well, they need to make money too and all the support and great service do come with a cost
If you are still not sure if HG is right for you, or you have specific query about anything at all, try the Live Chat at HG. They are fast and knowledgeable. Just shoot them some questions before you decide.

Sounds like you would do well with Cpanel. It is a great server program that installs all kinds of scripts… Forums, blogs, etc.

Watch out for all these people posting affiliate links to hosts.
There is no best web hosting provider, just the best fit for you for the costs. I really recommend against going with one with a site builder and templates, that ties you into the host and down the road when you need to move or if the host has problems you will not be able too. Build your site in Frontpage or DreamWeaver or anything else and then upload it to the host or sync it as most of them call it. That way you are not tied to one host that might not be great.

Honestly, It is just not worth it to go with any one site without doing your research first on the vast field of web hosting. You should consider going to http://www.hostgumbo.com … There you can view an up to date pricing and incentives comparison chart for the top 2008 web hosting companies, starting at $3.96 per month with free for life domain names. Plus HostGumbo contributes $25 (cash in your pocket) to the cost of your hosting plan when you choose your web host.
I personally prefer http://www.hostgumbo.com/webhostingpad.html … they offer:
– Free Domain for life!
– 99% uptime
– 1700 GB Disk Space
– 17000 GB Bandwidth
– Unbeatable Pricing at only $3.96 per month with their new promotion!
– Free Ad Credits, $25 Google and $30 Yahoo!
Feel free to email me if you have any questions or just want to talk about hosting and websites in general. And remember, always do your research before you buy.
Good luck!
