A frequently-asked query:
I’m planning to move a business website to a new host, but I don’t want to move the email accounts associated with it (there’s a lot of them and don’t want to cause disruption)….
Is this possible?
Leaving the email account with the old provider isn’t an issue because they own our business and host us on their server – it’s just better for us as a company if we have our own webspace. This needs to be carried out with little to no disruption to the email users who rely on their email accounts

Inda Cloud
Only if you want to go thru a lot of dns rigamarole and want to keep the old account up.
If you’re moving from cpanel to cpanel, you can import those addresses from one to another.
Then, when you’re ready to move, you keep both hosting accounts up. Don’t close the old one. Make sure you have your ip address of the old hosting account.
Mail will do one of 3 things.
Go to old account
Go to new account
Bounce around for a day or 2 while you switch domain names. It will eventually land at one of the two hosts.
Give the ip address to all of your users. Once the move has completed, before you shut down the old account, have them check mail on the old host using the ip address. The ip address will replace incoming hostname. They check mail, switch back to domain name. Done. If they’re savvy enough they could switch back and forth till the move is done.
Alternatively, have them login to webmail of the old account via ip.
