A typical question:
I need to start making some money and I’m out of a job. I have been to art school and know how to work my way around Photoshop and I also have some pretty good design/HTML skills. So I figure, maybe it’s time to start putting those thousands of dollars in tuition money to good use?
I need to find some free webspace until i can afford my own domain/website, but how do you charge people? (I’ll work really cheap since i’m trying to build a portfolio). Is there like a website that will process credit cards/cash transactions for me even though im hosted on a free website? (or even a blog, which maybe where i set up shop).
And what do I do exactly? Do I design 2-3 web pages and let the customer decide what they want or do I design something specifically for them? Do they pay me first and i work or after the jobs completed?
Can someone give me some advice please? I’d really like to get started and get my domain name and everything but i need a few jobs before i can even do that.
Oh, I have adobe Dreamweaver (I have no idea how to use it, but I do know basic HTML and I’m sure i can learn Dreamweaver in no time) Adobe Photoshop and Gimp. THANKS!
Easist Web Hosting- Thanks for those sites! Yes, that training site is awesome, i definately need to learn CSS nad XHTML, since im lost as to what those are exactly @_@
Answer: It is not your fault you got confused. Free hosting will most probably never be the right hosting for most. Web hosting is one of the most critical thing for your online presence and can mean the life or death to your business.
Before we answer your question, let us review the 7 qualities to look for in a good web hosting. An excellent hosting:
- does not suspend accounts as easily,
- gives more-than-enough diskspace,
- offers unlimited bandwidth,
- gives unlimited add-on domains,
- has easy Site Builder,
- has Fantastico and QuickInstall to quickly install apps like WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, OSCommerce, ZenCart and more
- can be easily upgraded to VPS or one of their cheap dedicated server plans if and when your business require.
Answering your question, why not try Hostgator. If you are building your first website and needs a hosting plan, experts usually highly recommend going with Hostgator because they are the best cheap cpanel hosting around.
What if you find out that Hostgator sucks after you signed up with them? HG has 45 days, longer-than-industry-average money back guarantee so you have ample time to test them out. They are rated A+ by Better Business Bureau which shows their commitment to customer satisfaction. You also do not have to pay for the first month. You can just try their fully functional hosting service – you pay only $0.01 (you need to use the special coupon code). Do you know any other hosting company that can give you that kind of assurance? Anybody can grab an account from Hostgator for almost FREE.

Who Should Not Try Hostgator
To be honest, no web hosting service is perfect. Drawback of Hostgator includes:
- No free domain name – but you can easily get a domain name from the best domain registrar such as Godaddy or Namecheap for $10 or less. Would you agree that a website is not complete without a domain name?
- You need to pay full price after your first invoice – well, they need to make money too and all the support and great service do come with a cost
If you are still not sure if HG is right for you, or you have specific query about anything at all, try the Live Chat at HG. They are fast and knowledgeable. Just shoot them some questions before you decide.

Yeah, I’m a freelancer and just started something like that myself. I’m not sure where you can ‘piggy-back’ like you’re talking. I have my own domain & site. I recommend having something you own you self. Dot.coms are cheap if you can find a name that suits you. Renting space would be next. I’ve seen them at $50 a year, and they usually supply free easy-to-use web software too. If you want to learn more about a commercial site, these articles might help:

To start your business, having your own proffessional site is best. Go to any of the free hosting site and register your free hosting. Build your website proffessionally as your clients will get some trust on you by seeing your site.
You have to make your site to accept payments. It is best recommended to use paypal, as it is more secure.
To start with, i best suggest you to use freesite2you This free hosting site has many features to start with. Register your free hosting account and they provide free script installer in your cpanel. You can install e-commerce site script with just one click. Or you can build your site yourself.
Then publish your site on social networking sites and go for freelancing jobs. I best suggest you elance.com.
To make your business successfull, make good contact with your client and provide them offers. One way to do this is giving freehosting which reduces their cost.
To create proffessional site, refer w3schools.com, dynamicdrive.com for best pre written free scripts.
Hope this would help you… All the best…!
