A typical query:
I have a domain with 123-reg, and hosting with 1and1. I have gone onto 123-reg control panel and forwarded my domain to my hosting at – http://1and1.co.uk.
Do I need to do anything on 1and1, otherwise how does 1and1 know my domain name?
The domain section on 1and1 is confusing, do I need home directory, and what is that?
When I enter my username and password on dreamweaver and test it, it does not connect and says there is a problem.

- No free domain name – but you can easily get a domain name from the best domain registrar such as Godaddy or Namecheap for $10 or less. Would you agree that a website is not complete without a domain name?
- You need to pay full price after your first invoice – well, they need to make money too and all the support and great service do come with a cost

You need to enter nameservers that you got from 1&1 (something like ns1.1and1.com and ns2.1and1.com – you should get that in email) in 123reg cpanel (manage domains>change nameservers). Note that 123reg requires to unlock domain before you change nameservers. After change, re-lock it! The changes will take 24-48 hours to propagate.

What you need are Nameservers!
You should be able to get nameservers from 1&1. You then enter these nameservers in the DNS management of your Domain at 123-reg.
That will then "point" your domain to your web hosting.
The other option is to use whats called an A-Record. You can get the IP of your hosting from 1&1 then set up an A record on your domain within domain management at 123-reg.
