Answer: You are not alone. Free hosting will not be the best hosting for you. Web hosting is the heart of your online presence and can mean the life or death to your business.
Before we answer your question, let us review the 7 factors to look for in a good web hosting. An excellent hosting:
- has at least 30 days money back guarantee,
- gives more-than-enough diskspace,
- offers unlimited bandwidth,
- gives unlimited add-on domains,
- has easy Site Builder,
- has Fantastico and QuickInstall to quickly install apps like WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, OSCommerce, ZenCart and more
- can be easily upgraded to VPS or one of their cheap dedicated server plans if and when your business require.

Who Should Not Try Hostgator
To be honest, no web hosting service is perfect. Drawback of Hostgator includes:
- No free domain name – but you can easily get a domain name from the best domain registrar such as Godaddy or Namecheap for $10 or less. Would you agree that a website is not complete without a domain name?
- You need to pay full price after your first invoice – well, they need to make money too and all the support and great service do come with a cost
If you are still not sure if HG is right for you, or you have specific query about anything at all, try the Live Chat at HG. They are fast and knowledgeable. Just shoot them some questions before you decide.

Just in case GoDaddy allows two domain names on same server, you need to contact Support and see how to set up the nameservers.
Under cPanel’s Addon domain function:
click on the addon domains button and put in your domain name. A folder is made in the public_html directory. So if you have mydomain.com, the files for that domain would live in a folder called mydomain.com.
Make a backup of your site just in case and ask Support to set up your friend’s domain name.

You have to configure your friend’s domain to your host’s dns server.
Search for your webhost’s DNS addresses and tell your friend to change the DNS records in her domain.
Then you can use addon domain.
snow_skimmer
first get your ip address
then tell your friend to login to her godaddy account and click on Advanced Details beside her domain name
from there, she should check if Total DNS is available and if it is, she should click on Total DNS Control
She should then edit the first A (Host) record
changing
Host @
from her ip address to your ip address under the Points to field and save it
you can then add her http record and subdirectory on your host
a few hours later, her domain should be pointing to your website
alternatively, you can also give her your 2 dns servers
she can then change her dns servers in the NS (Name Servers) section of Total DNS Control
this can get tricky though because you will have to copy a lot of her default settings or she won’t be able to get her mail from godaddy.
and if you want to host her mail as well, that’s another story 😉

Your friend needs to login to her godaddy account and change the domain name servers (DNS) to yours this is done by going to domain management ticking the box by the domain name then clicking change DNS then entering yours and clicking OK
If you don’t know your DNS then you can look it up at http://whois.domaintools.com/
Type in your domain name and at the bottom of the page you will see Domain servers in listed order:
It can take 24 hours to propagate (this means that nothing could show when you type in the web address for 24 hours)
