A typical question:
I pretty much have no idea about handling domains so to me my question looks horribly complex but maybe somebody with more knowledge can help me.
First of i have 3 domains
1. Domain is linked to my web space i will refer to it as ".wd"
2. Domain is my dyndns domain being updated with my ever changing home ip i will refer to it as ".dd"
3. Domain is currently not linked to anything and is intended as main domain to "combine" the others i will refer to it as ".md"Essentially i want as said link everything over my main domain both my web space and my home computer. How ever since i use my home network at times to run game servers the forward for that would need a port if possible.
so basically "server.domain.md" should link to "domain.dd:port"
while accessing "domain.md" links to "domain.wd"if sub-domain forward to ports is not possible i would prefer if the md and wd link stays the same but
"domain.md:port" would forward to "domain.dd:port"Or any other suggestions on how to combine the web space and the dynamic domain onto the main?
Is any of the options possible? Any alternatives? And what would i need for solutions?
Thank you to anyone who can help me.
(and just for those wondering why 3 one i registered some time ago(main) one came free with the web space and one i need for my dynamic ip)
Answer: This is quite a popular question. Free hosting will most probably never be the best hosting for you. Web hosting is one of the most critical thing for your web presence and can mean the life or death to your business.
To answer your query, here are 7 factors to look for in a good web hosting. An excellent hosting:
- has at least 30 days money back guarantee,
- gives unlimited diskspace,
- offers no limit on bandwidth,
- gives unlimited add-on domains,
- has friendly Site Builder,
- has Fantastico and QuickInstall to quickly install apps like WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, OSCommerce, ZenCart and more
- can be easily upgraded to VPS or one of their cheap dedicated server plans if and when your business require.
To answer your question, 92% of Webmasters recommended to try Hostgator. If you need an “unlimited” hosting plan, experts usually highly recommend going with Hostgator because they are the best cheap cpanel hosting around.
What if you find out that Hostgator sucks after you signed up with them? HG has 45 days, longer-than-industry-average money back guarantee so you have ample time to test them out. Who Should Not Try Hostgator
To be honest, no web hosting service is perfect. Drawback of Hostgator includes:
- No free domain name – but you can easily get a domain name from the best domain registrar such as Godaddy or Namecheap for $10 or less. Would you agree that a website is not complete without a domain name?
- You need to pay full price after your first invoice – well, they need to make money too and all the support and great service do come with a cost
